Our total MISSIONS SUPPORT as a congregation depends on your generosity. 100% of what you give for missions will be sent to missions -- the more generous you can be the more effective we become. This does not come out of the general church budget - it is a separate fund and collection. To support this area of ministry, YOU must let us know the ammount of your missions giving and how you would like it applied.

IF you place money in the offering plate on Sunday, with no indication otherwise, it is used for the current expenses of the church (which is very essential!).

IF you indicate that a portion of your offering is for "Missions" with no more specific instructions, it will be applied to the Gerenal Missions Funds by percentage (see below).

IF you specify how your missions contribution is to be used (see below for options) we will be glad to apply it as you request.

THERE ARE SEVERAL WAYS TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE GENERAL MISSIONS FUNDS

You determine which way you would like your missions giving to be applied.

1.
BY PERCENTAGE TO GENERAL MISSIONS FUNDS

Indicate on your check or on your offering envelope the amount you wish to give to missions. Unless you specify otherwise, this will be distributed among the collections listed below by a percentage agreed on by the congregation at our annual meeting.

2.
YOUR CHOICE OF GENERAL MISSIONS FUNDS

Indicate on your check or offering envelope WHICH of the general missions funds listed below YOU desire to contribute to, or special funds that arise form time to time, and the amountof your check which should go to each. They will be distributed as you request. If you don't have a regular offering envelope, just be sure to include your written instructions with your contribution.

3.
SPECIAL COLLECTIONS

For occasional collections such as the 30 Hour Famine, CHABHA, Missions Trips, The Chester-Andover Ministerium or others not listed at the left, special instructions will be available to the congregation. Before you give to a special collection, be sure that it is one we are currently raising funds for, so that we can distribute and account for your funds efficiently.

OUR GENERAL MISSIONS FUNDS ARE:

United Missions -- to support the general work of the American Baptist Churches regionally, nationally and even globally.

World Missions -- cooperatively supporting American Baptist foreign missions. This fund provides 100% funding to roughly 135 full time missionaries and their work.

One Great Hour of Sharing -- In cooperation with many other denominations, this fund provides ready disaster and crisis relief in the US and worldwide.

America for Christ -- to provide for the growth of the Christian church in the United States, primarily through evangelism and church planting.

Retired Ministers & Missionaries -- provides emergency assistance and annual love gifts to retired ministers, missionaries and their spouses.

The Chester-Andover Family Center -- which provides a food shelf and many other emergency services for area families in need.

The Brooks-Bohannon-Mackie Scholarship Fund -- to assist young people in our church community with costs for summer church camps, missions trips, and other similar opportunities.

SPECIAL COLLECTIONS are not unusual, and are announced when they are under way. These often include but are not limited to the following:

CHABHA -- Children Affected by HIV/AIDS -- This grassroots organization partners supporters and advocates in the US with workers in the field throughout southern Africa, where the epidemic has effected nearly 25% of the population. Our Sunday School children have dedicated their collections to this cause, and we regularly collect clothing for them as well.

The 30 Hour Famine -- This annual Youth Group event raises awareness and funds for the support and relief of children worldwide who live in conditions of chronic poverty, as refugees displaced by or orphaned by warfare, or as victims of natural disaster. The funds are collected by World Vision.

The Chester Andover Ministerium -- Our area Clergy cooperatively administer a small fund for the assistance of local people in need. This has ranged from fuel assistance, house fire recovery, medical needs and other critical situations. The five serices our area churches hold together during lent contribute their offerings to this fund, but it is also supplemented by additional offerings, the support of the local churches, and donations from individuals.

The Deacons' Fund -- Our monthly fellowship offering is used at the discretion of the Deacons for emergency assistance to members of the congregation, special items for worship, and other unique opportunities as they arise. Individual contributions are welcome and should be given directly to the Deacons' Treasurer. The Deacons also oversee the use of memorial funds given in honor of members of our community who have recently passed away.

The Organ Fund -- Includes donations given to keep the pipe organ and pianos in decent repair. Currently this fund also includes contributions for the continued, step by step installation of a full sound system. Speak directly to the pastor about giving to help this project along.
